The Global Energy Monitor Research Institute in a report said that 69,700 km of the gas transmission pipeline are under construction in the world this year, registering an 18-percent growth compared to last year.
The research institute has put the money spent for constructing this pipeline project at about $200 billion.
According to the report, 80% of the world’s gas pipeline construction projects are being implemented in Asia with China, India and Iran accounting for most of the projects.
Currently, Iran is constructing 5,000 km of gas transmission pipelines costing $17.8 billion, it said, IRNA reported.
Russia, Pakistan, the US, Nigeria, Italy, Argentina, and Canada stand 4th to 10th respectively in terms of construction of the gas pipeline in the world, the report added.
